REVEALING GOD: AS “FATHER” …. Through Our Lord Jesus
* This study seeks to introduce (again) to us our Heavenly Father.
In the beginning, the creation of man is entirely God’s idea (Purpose: to have fellowship with man, created in His image and likeness) – (Genesis 1:26-27). Therefore God is the author of this relationship. It is instructing that the Lord Jesus commanded “After this manner therefore pray ye – “Our Father, which art in heaven…. ” (Matthew 6:9) and the Lord Jesus referred to God as “Father” throughout His earthly ministry.
As we proceed in this study, we pray that our hearts are visited by the Lord Himself, to reveal and deepen our understanding of which He is, as “the Father”, and how we can relate to Him as beloved children. Amen.
Overcoming Hindrances To Knowing God As Father
Thoughts For The Individual Heart:
i. I know God is my Father, but are there still issues keeping me from experiencing His Love?
ii. How can I overcome the hindrances to knowing the love of God as my Heavenly Father?
John 1:12: “But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”. However, many Christians do not relate to God as a Father, and are so afraid of God that they cannot pursue
a Father-Son relationship with Him, as we see in the life of Jesus. Why?
* This study seeks to discuss possible causes of our not growing in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Revealing Jesus Christ As “Saviour And Lord”
Jesus Christ Revealed As The Promised Deliverer
* This study seeks to encourage us to better acquaint ourselves with our LORD JESUS, as He is revealed through the ENTIRE scriptures. This is to give a solid basis for our SALVATION AND CHRISTIAN LIFE, so we can confidently and steadfastly contend for the FAITH delivered unto us.
As we proceed in this study, we pray that our hearts are open to the Holy Spirit, to TEACH and REMIND us of our foundation in JESUS, the AUTHOR AND FINISHER of our faith (Hebrew 12:2). Amen.
Thoughts For The Individual Heart
i. At present, how do I define the relationship between Jesus and me?
ii. How much have I grown in my knowledge of Jesus, since I believe on Him?
iii. Why should I want to know more about Jesus?
The Holy Spirit: God Revealed In Power;
The Comforter And The Teacher
The first mention of the Spirit of God in the Scriptures is in Genesis 1 verse 2 – in creation: “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters”. Thus, the Holy Spirit of God has been revealed from the very beginning, in creation, and is revealed throughout the Scriptures – Old and New Testament.
In the account of the birth of Jesus Christ, as we studied earlier, (Luke 1:26-38) we read the words spoken by the angel Gabriel to Mary, the mother of Jesus: “the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing that shall be born of these shall be called the Son of God (Luke 1:35). In this scripture, we see the revelation of God –as Father, and as the Holy Spirit in the conception of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Saviour.
