Living In The Word – Understanding The Scriptures

Text:

John 5:39
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Acts 8:30
And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

Luke 24:45
Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.

PREAMBLE

One of the important principles of a victorious Christian living is a consistent life in the WORD OF GOD. The word of God is like food for the spirit, and by extension, the tonic for the transformation of the soul from the old ways of life. It is the light by which a believer walks and navigates his path in this world of darkness. 1 Peter 2:2; Psalm 119:9, 11, 105.

However, the key to the word of God is UNDERSTANDING! Just like squeezing brings out the juice from our oranges, an accurate understanding of God’s word is what delivers the very LIFE (and essence) of God’s word into our beings (Ephesians 1:17). Therefore, beyond reading the words of God, we must be made to UNDERSTAND. Acts 8:30, Luke 24:45

It is an expression of God’s abundant mercies to bring His people into a continuous season of abundant light (or truth) in His word. For it is an affliction for a man/people to not have light. Matthew 13:13-14.

When this happens, then such a man might have been subjected to God’s wrath and Divine Judgment (Lamentations 3:1-2, Amos 5:18, 20).

Conversely, it is also an affliction to be in the abundance of Light, and not know how to access or maximize it. John 5:39

In this season of darkness and gross darkness upon the world, it is a great mercy for God’s overcoming people (Church) to have Light by God’s word and to walk in the same. Psalm 43:3; John 1:3-5; Isaiah 60:1-2; 3John 3-4; Micah 7:9; Isaiah 9:2.
